San Carlos Mexico Live Music

Bienvenidos…..and it is good to be “back”.

The economy in Phoenix and Tucson is depressed. Museums, music venues, jazz clubs, and coffee houses are closing. But that is not the story in our precious little pueblo. Our performances will continue, as follows:

  • The Luna Band (pictured), has made the Soggy Peso one of the prime “hot” beach bars in Sonora. The newlyweds of the Luna Band, Norma and Gil, rock the place during the weekend sunsets with classic North American suave musica blending the Eagles, Maná, CCR, and traditional Mexican favorites. The band then moves their act to Froggy's with a bit more “electricity”….
  • Yes, Froggy's is slowly coming back to the ole’ days, thanks to Roberto, the new owner. Every Tuesday evening, the Azul Band, featuring Jesus rocks the joint. Also the best harmonica player in the SW joins them. His name is Brent. The Azul band also brings their jams to the Soggy Peso on Sundays in the late afternoons with a larger band and a different flavor of eclectic music.
  • Omar and Danny, household names in San Carlos, continue to play at the Soggy Peso on Tuesday afternoons. The duet plays violin, Spanish Guitar, piano, the tuba and congas. Danny also performs on Friday evenings at Marina Terra and a Sunday brunch downstairs.
  • After its opening almost ten months ago, Bonifacio’s Cotton Club and Beach Lounge has evolved into a prime hot spot for lunch, cocktails on the beach, unique yet affordable gourmet dishes and a perfect venue for the current and upcoming acts of Steve and Elba. Omar performs here regularly on the piano and his Spanish guitar. And Eric Holland will perform a complete library of favorite songs once a week starting mid-November. Also look for the late night bands and DJ’ s that proprietors Francisco and Sandra Torres book during high season.
  • At Banana's, you'll find Manuelito and his band of Warriors performing on Saturdays. Frank and Dina also present The Twins on Wednesday or Thursday nights.
  • Mike at The Captain's Club across from the MarinaTerra also features Manuelito on weekends. On Monday evenings at The Captain's Club, watch old-time movies outside accompanied by Omar and his piano.
  • At Pilar Restaurant, the duet of Steve and Elba will continue their uppity mix of of musica, a bilingual and definitely dance-oriented mix.
  • The Iguana Bar, upstairs at Evie’s Coffee, features long-time locals Bobby and Leslie for dinner shows.
  • Ron plays country favorites at Tequila's during the week.
  • Speaking of talent, the San Carlos All-Stars will be playing at the Fiesta in the upcoming months.

Tambien…look for the local talents of Sam Rainwater, Neil Duvall, Whitney Azoy, Sandra (Mariachi) Rodriguez, Peter Pope Jones, Bob & Melissa and others playing around town. And last but not least, maybe Mark Mulligan will drive across the desert from Rocky Point and give us all a surprise performance this Fall!

Musically Yours, Eric Holland
