Movies at the Yacht Club

Ocean Camp arranges for a weekly movie to be played at the San Carlos Yacht Club, at the Marina San Carlos. For a one-time fee of $50 pesos, you will become a “member” of the club. Then each movie has a suggested donation of $50 pesos, which includes popcorn.

Movie Rentals

Blockbuster video in Guaymas has all the latest video rentals. In order to get a membership card, bring your photo ID and know your address here in Mexico. It costs $35 pesos to rent the latest DVDs, and on Tuesdays you can rent them for $19 pesos.

Videomagic is another video store in Guaymas.

In San Carlos, you can rent movies at the Video Club Store (located beside the Hacienda Plaza – look for the yellow entrance). For a membership, you need ID with a picture and proof of residence (via a water, phone, or electrical bill). The videos are $25 pesos.

Note that the region code in Mexico is #4 (in the US and Canada, it is #1). Some movies that you rent are ONLY region #4, which means that if you have a US or Canadian store-bought DVD player, it will not play the movie. Check the back of the video to see which region(s) it will play in, and ask the clerk if you are not sure. Otherwise, you can buy a multi-region DVD player at most stores (i.e. Coppel, Famsa).
