Well, summer is still hanging in there. We were out 15-25 miles on Thursday catching about ten dorado up to 20 pounds. It seemed like things cooled off and all the marlin surfed out of here this last weekend with the winds, but the satellite images today show the warm water is almost coming back. We also saw some tuna boils when we were out there, so you never know. Our friends next to us caught a 250 pound Blue marlin and a couple of sailfish. We had an excellent week of fishing, catching an average of about two billfish a day. There were lots of striped marlin but they were a few miles offshore. One day my father and his friend loaded the cooler with bonita, yellowtail, and sierra, only to then go and catch five marlin! A few nice cabrilla are in close and I’m sure the Island from the old lighthouse to the north tip is loaded with bonita. The yellowtail are off and on, but it looked like a bonanza out there on Monday morning. We should be trying the Island later in the week for the real big ones. My fingers are still crossed for a good tuna run though.
