We had a beautiful week of weather after the fishing tournament with lots of good fish being caught. I made it out on Thursday with a charter for the best fishing I’ve ever experienced. Almost every fish was 22-28 pounds and they bit all day. They were also biting on the troll which made them easy to catch. They weren’t easy to bring in though!
The next day and the day after the fish just disappeared. Nothing was caught. A few were caught in the afternoon and a couple on Sunday. Monday wasn’t much better, One boat did find some medium-sized yellowtail in close in the afternoon off of San Antonio Point. There is lots of bait in close, so maybe we’ll finally start seeing some fish near shore after a few months of nothing off the Points. A few boats have been bottomfishing and catching their ‘fillets’. It seems like the weather and water is starting to warm and the winds abating. I’m ready for Spring!
