A Castaway Kids benefit is being held this Saturday, November 26 at Hotel Fiesta Real from Noon until sunset. The event will be a CD Release Party for Sam’s 2nd CD, “Dressing For Life”. Sam will be joined by many of San Carlos’ best musicians, including Bobby and Leslie Sahlen, Peter Pope Jones, Sandra & the Mariachis, Bohemia (Omar, Danny & Alberto), The Twins, and special guest, Charlie Imes.
There will be an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet available for 110 pesos (see picture to right for full menu).
There will be 50/50 drawings and various items will be auctioned including stays at La Posada, Condo Dorado, The Athletic Club, a boutique hotel in Guadalajara, a sunset cruise for dolphin watchers, and other items as well. Door prizes (from the 50/50 non-winning tickets) include gift certificates from Barracuda Bob’s, Ruby Wine Bar, Iberri’s Pemex, Marina Cantina, Captain’s Club, La Trattoria, Bananas, Jax Snax, Soggy Peso, George’s Gift Shop, Bonifacio’s, Sagitario, Piccolo and others.
There will be no cover charge and the weather is expected to be perfect for a musical day at the beach. Come out for the fun and help make a difference to a child’s future.
Sam was recently honored by the Trop Rock Music Association’s Award for Community Service named the “I Can” Award, which was presented to him in November by our own Mark Mulligan. Sam has worked tirelessly and donates all his fees for appearances as well as all monies from the sale of his CDs and all monies received through his music in Mexico to Castaway Kids. Sam not only gives to Castaway Kids, but his proceeds in the U.S. go to support Packages from home for troops overseas. Sam’s company Suntronics then matches the amount. The Rainwaters and Suntronics also sponsor numerous students through our Adelante Estudiante program. He really deserved that award!
