Catch the Wave
Let’s help our favorite Trop Rock’ers by joining Margarita Mafia and nominating them for awards — we’re trying to get our friends recognition through awards which have been previously dominated by East-coasters. Castaway Kids founder, Mark Mulligan and Sam Rainwater, huge contributors to Castaway Kids, are both eligible for several nominating categories for the Trop Rock Music Awards which are given at their major event in Florida during the month of November; but nominating begins in a couple of months. Bruce and Giggles are eligible as Fans of the Year, Susan Schauf for her House Concerts and Castaway Kids’ CD Release Party as Event of the Year. Go to margaritamafia.com and join — it’s only $20 US. Then wait for your t-shirt to arrive in the mail and you will be notified when it’s time to send in your nominations. Our friends, Bruce & Giggles and Susan Schauf are also qualified for an award. Here are our suggestions to get out the vote: For Mark Mulligan: Musician of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Entertainer of the Year and for Song of the Year: “I Be Smilin’ Today.” Horizon (Regional Artist) Sam Rainwater for ”Yes I Can” Community Service Award Fans of the Year: Bruce and Giggles (Bruce & Jeannie Tilley) House Concert Venue: Susan Schaug Event of the Year: Castaway Kids’ CD Release Party, held on March 27, 2011, on La Posada Beach, San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico

Nourish Your Skin From WithinI’ve been getting a lot of questions lately on what role nutrition plays in skin care, or in keeping skin healthy. The very good news is that there’s remarkable evidence that vitamins and minerals not only make a difference in how your skin looks and feels, but also how well it ages. In fact, the nutrition in certain foods can transform your complexion. Changing what you put ‘in to’ your body, rather than ‘on to’ your body will go a long way towards maintaining glowing skin, hair, and nails. I know often times when I see someone and admire their skin, they also seem to radiate a youthful vitality, and look to be in very good health. Read more to find out why. |

Club Deportivo
As the season winds down, we want to give a big “THANKS” to everyone in the San Carlos community who volunteered and/or supported the many activities of Club Deportivo this year. BINGO this season saw an average attendance of 33 people each night. All proceeds from Bingo go to Hogar de Paz y Bien Orphanage in Guaymas. Many people came out to support the Ceramics Show/Silent Auction in March. These profits go into the general fund to support the many needs of the community. The Prime Rib dinner on April 15th was a huge success with 182 tickets sold. This was the last dinner of the season. Did you know that these dinners are worked solely by volunteers!!! Jean Baker is currently arranging for a bus to take 37 Sixth Grade students to the Zoo, Museum and Water Park in Hermosillo on May 11. This trip is just one of many community projects paid for by Club Deportivo funds. The final activity of this season will be the Ladies Invitational Fishing Tournament (LIFT) on May 28-29. It will culminate with the Awards dinner and banquet at the Club starting at 5:30pm. Club Deportivo’s activities will resume in November. Membership for the season is 150 pesos per person and Lifetime Memberships are $100 US for a family. Hope everyone has a great summer. See you in the Fall! |

Who’s Who in Entertainment
Meet the Trailer Trash Royalty (and the Trashettes). These diverse characters are exclusively out of the Loma del Mar barrio in the San Carlos desert. They are working on a second CD and you may have seen them this season in venues such as the Fiesta, the Yacht Club, and various house parties that never ended. Their music is a melange of Creedence and the fusion of Merle Haggard performing with the Eagles. The four guitarists are Jimmy, Jerry, Bruce and Paul who also plays a mean harmonica. Don keeps the troupe moving with his bass lines and the Trashettes feature Sue, Mary and JoAnne. Original songs for the group are penned by vocalist Bruce Munson. Look for them at future Castaway Kids events and also the San Carlos All-Star concerts. |
