May 10th, 2010 is the First Annual Motor / Sailboat Charity Rally. As well as being a fundraiser, the rally will celebrate San Carlos’ 50th anniversary.
The registration fee is $100. There is a $25 discount for everyone registering before May 5th. The event is open to power boats and sailboats. Participants will receive a t-shirt and hat. All proceeds will be dispersed between the orphanage in Kino and those unfortunate people who lost everything during Jimena.
The rally will start at San Carlos on May 10th, allowing two days to arrive in Kino Bay. The Mexican navy will escort the fleet for the entire trip in case of any problems that may come up. There will be a potluck party on the beach at El Choyudo, the halfway point.
After anchoring in Kino Bay, there will be a free shuttle service for your convenience from the anchorage to shore. The town of Kino Bay will be hosting a fiesta. On the return trip there will be another layover at El Choyudo for anyone wishing to have another beach party.
After everyone returns to San Carlos, there will be an award party on May 15 at the Yacht Club in San Carlos. At this time we will have drawings for gifts donated from various sponsors and local businesses. One of the prizes will be a week’s stay at the Costa de Oro Beach Resort in Mazatlan.
This event is sponsored by the Lion’s Clubs of Mexico. For further information, email your questions to rallyinfomexico@yahoo.com. For pre-registration go to www.go2sancarlos.com. To register, call 011-622-222-4333.
