OBITUARIES
A note from Kate Bertrand,

My dear Tom passed away suddenly June 16, 2008. We were in Colorado visiting his son for Father's Day weekend. Six days later our fluff-ball Shadow died. Any donations to Rescate would be appreciated. (Shadow supported Rescate just as much as Tom and I did, attending the early day's card parties and margarita parties!)

For donations to Rescate, see thier website www.rescatesc.com.
Tom and Kate were very active with the Rescate Auxiliary, especially the Community Directory of Residents, two editions of which were produced almost singlehandedly by Kate. His name is being added to our Tree of Life, painted by Hector Vari on the Rescate building.

On the Rescate website, click on "Membership". Scroll down to the box marked "Make a Donation." Click it, and the page to use for contributions will appear.

Jose Luis Garcia passed away last night in a motorcycle accident in Guaymas. Some of you may know him from working at Encantado Realty. He was already a great person at the age of 22 with endless potential. My heart and prayers go out to his family. His father Jose Luis (Sr), is the civil engineer for the Golf Towers.

Al Jaramillo passed away peacefully at his home in San Carlos on March 25, 2008. His ashes will be placed in the sea that he loved during a private family ceremony.
Our hearts go out to Al's family. We are especially saddened for Dodie, his wife, our precious beading teacher.

   FLINT ENGLISH

Flint has been a friend of ours ever sense we moved San Carlos and we will miss him very much. Flint was the kind of person who would do anything for pretty much anyone and at the same time not ask his friends for help even when he needed it. When Flint was diagnosed with cancer is when I really got to know Flint and the man he was. I can honestly say that I have never known anyone to be as strong both on the inside and outside as Flint was. No matter what the treatment was he was faced with or the findings of the doctors he always remained positive and strong. I remember a little over a year ago someone put a posting on Viaviasancarlos talking about Flints condition and how nice it would be if the residents of San Carlos could help him out with maybe some money to pay his slip rent or help with rides to and from his treatments and his response was NO I am doing good and really do not need any help if you feel the need to help please find someone else who really needs the help and help them. That was Flint, I know that a lot of people have been by his side though out Flints battle with cancer but I would like to say thank you to Jan and Denny for not just being there to help him when he needed it but for being the kind of friends you were to him, I know that Jan will miss her dancing partner and Denny will miss his best friend and the rest of us that had the pleasure of knowing him will never forget him

PAT PERSINGER

Known as Pat the Barber or as he was known by Mexicans as Patricio, died on Jan 6 of pneumonia.

He lived in Alaska before moving here about +15 years ago. In Alaska he was a trapper, hunter and chartered fishing trips. His wife Rose Mary passed away last year in Baja, in Puerto Lopez Mateos where they moved thanks to the excellent fishing and climate.

He lived in Tecalai until last year being the barber of the town. He fished religiously everyday in a small aluminum boat and donated the fish to the community in Ranchitos. He was really fun to be with, with lots of stories and jokes and used to say that if he would put a name to his barbershop it was "The truth and nothing but the truth" in regard of all the stories and b.s they joked around.
